Introduction My love of food comes from munching freshly picked podded peas from my Grandpa's garden, enjoying red juicy tomatoes from the greenhouse. My Mum would hold lavish dinner parties, always wowing her friends with canapes, incredible classic French coq au vin, chocolate roulades, choux pastry swans and home made sweets and chocolates. For me, this was a way of life. Now I cook simply, from the land, a small veg patch at the bottom of the garden. The root of my cooking is firmly in the land around me, using what we grow, what grows close by and then buying in to supplement. It used to be the other way around not too long ago.I have worked with Raymond Blanc,in restaurants and Bistros, for the National Trust and most recently in schools with creative, talented children, excluded from main stream education. Most recently I have been researching Ancient Grains, inspired by 'Ancient Grains For Modern Meals'by Maria Speck, and food history linking in with the Primary School Curriculum,Forest Gardens and Transition Towns,Permaculture,Gorilla Gardening and letting children free in the kitchen. What's the worst that can happen?!
