Introduction Hastings Zidana (PhD), is a Fisheries Researcher and Head of Malawi National Aquaculture Centre (NAC). EDUCATION INFORMATION: A PhD in Molecular genetics, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. A PhD in Biological Sciences, researching on Population genetics of Lake Malawi Cichlids, using the cutting edge molecular technology at The University of Hull, UK. I am well placed to comment and direct on the fisheries related issues, policy and management of Lake Malawi biodiversity. A Master of Science (MSc. Aquaculture), from National Taiwan Ocean University. A Bachelor of Science (BSc in Agriculture) from the University of Malawi-Bunda College Campus. A Diploma in Agriculture from University of Malawi-Bunda College Campus
Interests To save the genetic and species diversity of Lake Malawi Cichlid Fishes, by use of informed decisions from proper molecular research work. To study aquatic environment and biodiversity. Recently I have been fascinated by the idea of improving growth of local Malawian Tilapias being used in Aquaculture industry in Malawi, from its current 0.5g/day to >1g/day weight gain.
