Introduction	In the Hebrew Bible, lamps symbolize life, joy, prosperity, guidance. Lamps were placed on a lampstand in the Tabernacle and then later in the Temple to symbolize Israel's divine vocation to be a witness and a testimony to the world of the one true God and the coming Messiah/Christ. In the Christian New Testament, lamps symbolize readiness to serve Christ. In Rev. 1-2, lampstands symbolize the churches "shining" the light of Messiah/Christ to the world. My picture of "The Lampstand" is a place on which Christ's light "sits", broadcasting to the world the light of His Word and the promise of His guidance and salvation for all who believe.
