Introduction I'm Nita Ighner. I've been here at Palomar since 1980. I was hired as the first Interpreter for the Deaf and a few years later I began to teach. It's been well over 30 years of teaching American Sign Language in the Southern California Community College system and 40 something years of interpreting for the Deaf. In addition, I've found much excitement and pleasure in the field of genealogy. For the past 27 years I've been extremely active in genealogy. I absolutely love it! It's hard work, but exciting! The detective work of finding the names and stories of people who have passed on is tremendously rewarding work. I must say that the work of genealogy is one of my everyday passions along with gardening, art, and writing, I can truly say that I'm never bored.
