Introduction My name is Richard. I live in a wonderful little town in the Northwest. I have lived long enough, in enough places, working at enough professions, and winning and losing enough pots in the game of life, to realize that it takes more than luck to be a winner in successful living, in satisfying aging, and finally in achieving a good, serene death. After working the last several years as a hospital volunteer and a hospice volunteer, I realize that I have gone back to the “graduate school” of learning compassion, wisdom, and all those things we cannot learn when we’re younger. My patients have been teaching me that living, growing older, and dying are not just part of a biological process, they are a skill we all can learn. For some of us this skill will become an art, which can transform and illuminate our aging process as well as the lives of all those around us. Get in the conversation: rreed@ram-mail.com.
