| Introduction | The Nourishing Spirit Network is a service provided for individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery. Our focus is cultivating social networks and community. This deviates from the usual support-group structure to include guest speakers, educational/informational sessions, field trips, events, parties, game-nights, as well as events and meetings specifically for loved ones of bariatric patients. Each week will address a different topic, for example using household framework for doing exercises or increasing self efficacy to make healthy choices in social settings. Certified experts in these topics will contribute to regular meetings as will participants. Regular meetings will be held at chapter locations. Each chapter will be led/supervised by professionals to provide proper psychological, nutritional, and exercise guidance. Individual participants can also have leadership positions (someone in charge of regular events, planning/scheduling, etc.) to aide in the networks activities, ensuring a sense of participation and community within participants. |
