| Introduction | My name is David Dobson. I was named in the Sauble Beach land claim lawsuit by the Saugeen Band in 1995. My land was originally purchased as part of a much larger lot in 1896 by way of Crown Patent and was registered in the Land Registry System of Ontario. I hold legal title to my property. Legal, but apparently not binding if Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada have their way. My family has owned the property since 1948 and I am the second generation to run the restaurant business, The Crowd Inn, which sits on the property. I purchased this property as a "good faith purchaser for value without notice" and I expect the government to stand behind that legal promise. I am an innocent bystander subjected to unfair treatment. Due to cost, no one has done research on behalf of the private landowners. We are asked to believe, on faith, everything that is fed to us from the lawyers, government, and the "experts." Since the mediation meetings of 2006, I began to question whether the land owners were being properly represented and, in the fall of 2015, with the case heading to trial, I decided to do my own research to seek out the truth. |
