| Introduction | Dr. William Baker has served 8 congregations in the South and Midwest as Minister of Music in a 34-year career. These have included the Village Church in suburban Kansas City, the nation's second-largest Presbyterian congregation, and the historic Grace United Methodist Church in Midtown Atlanta. After a brief retirement from professional ministry, he returned as Music Director for the Faith Lutheran Church in Prairie Village, KS. He is founder of the William Baker Choral Foundation (www.FestivalSingers.org) a national organization supporting the choral arts through twelve ensembles based in three states. His choruses have produced 20 recordings and have performed in numerous radio and television broadcasts and frequent concert tours. A native of Atlanta, he has made his home in northeastern Kansas since 1998. Having studied voice and conducting at Mercer University and the University of Georgia, he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He now serves as Associate Professor of Music in the Extension School where he teaches applied conducting and choral methods. Dr. Baker is a married father of three. |
