Introduction	Silvio Parnis served as Mayor of Paola from 1994 till 1998. He was first elected in Parliament in 1998, re-elected in 2003 and in 2008 with the largest amount of votes in the 4th electoral district. Since elected in Parliament Silvio Parnis was the Malta Labour Party spokesperson for the elderly. During the previous legislature Mr Parnis together with a team of experts prepared the Malta Labour Party policy document for the elderly after consulting all the concerned parties in the island. In June 2008 the newly elected Labour Leader, Dr Joseph Muscat chose Silvio Parnis as the Main Opposition Spokesperson for Consumer Protection.
