| Introduction | I teach all levels of math, from basic algebra through calculus and statistics, at Rock Valley College (RVC) in Rockford, IL. I love the classroom and what I do but I'm never satisfied with "good enough" and certainly not with things that are in miserable shape, like developmental math education. So after getting fed up with the status quo, I started changing some things in my classes and then my department by leading a comprehensive redesign of our developmental math program. It has been very successful. I now speak about it and help other colleges around the country in their efforts to change and improve developmental math. |
