Introduction	In my lifetime I have gone from being a teenage welfare mother to being appointed Assistant Welfare Commissioner for my State. I have moved from poverty to financial comfort. Now, due to my health, changes in the Administration that I worked for and bad business decisions on my part I am back where I started from. The difference is that I am older and over the years I have learned a lot about how to be poor in America. I want to share that knowledge with you, especially given our current economy.
