| Introduction | My name is Charles David Pinckney Shuler and I was born in Charleston, SC on November 8th, 1989. I grew in the small agricultural community of Providence, South Carolina, which is still call my home to this day. Saying that I took an unconventional route to become a building artisan would be an understatement. I finished high school not exactly sure what career path I wanted to choose. In the fall of 2008, I gained acceptance to Clemson University as a Chemistry major, and soon realized that it was not the path for me. Working with my hands was something that I had always an interest in and an appreciation for, so when I heard about the American College of the Building Arts in 2012, I knew that I had finally found my niche. Seeing as how the building arts were completely foreign to me at the time, there was certainly a steep learning curve at first, but nothing that could not be overcome with a little hard work and dedication. So after a round about journey, masonry is my trade of choice at the American College of the Building Arts where I am in the Class of 2016. |
