| Introduction | Am now into the 34th year of covering/writing on sports, mostly cricket. Am presently working independently, having worked with Outlook (weekly magazine), The Statesman, The Asian Age, Mail Today, Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), Sakaal Times (English), Delhi Mid-Day, and JantaKaReporter.com etc. As a freelancer, I contribute to Al Jazeera, Wisden Nightwatchman, The Patriot, ThePrint.com, News9Live.com, TheQuint.com, TheFederal.com, National Herald etc. I have written two books -- Penguin India 2003 World Cup Cricket Companion (Foreword by: Sourav Ganguly); and Penguin World Cup Cricket Companion 2007 (Foreword by: Rahul Dravid). I won the Indian Express’s ‘Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism 2016’ for my story on acute shortage of sports coaches in India; and the ‘Sports Journalists Federation of India’s Best of News Agencies 2006’ for my story on mind-boggling craze for billiards/snooker among the daily wagers in Multan, Pakistan, that I witnessed while covering Indian team’s tour of Pakistan in 2004 and 2006. (Alhamdulillah = all praise is due to only Allah) |
