| Introduction | I’m currently getting underway with a new stage of my life and career. After university (PhD chemistry, Imperial) I worked in the IT industry as systems integrator, software developer, troubleshooter and manager, mainly in communications and network software in a variety of vertical markets (eventually VP with TIBCO). After dotcom success I took a career break and then moved into teaching, (PGCE IoE) and taught in a west London comprehensive for about 8 years. In that time I taught science and mathematics and also worked in the SEN department. I’m a qualified yoga teacher and use NLP in my work with students to help with anger and stress management. More recently I taught Theory of Knowledge, initially as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma and most recently as a customised course for pre-university students. A technophile, I experimented with ed-tech throughout my teaching. Now I’ve decided to explore a couple of education areas independently to see where it takes me and to learn about setting up a business. I’m particularly interested in the transition from sixth form to university and tech support for teaching. |
