| Introduction | I grew up wandering woods and fields in Connecticut and wrote my first poem at the age of five. After attending a one-room schoolhouse, I spent a number of years studying and writing about biology, and a number more teaching nonverbal children how to communicate. I live on a small organic farm in Gibsonville, NC, with my husband and one Abyssinian cat. I began writing tanka in 2008 and find it to be the perfect vehicle for exploring the relationship between the landscapes that lie within and without. |
