| Introduction | Why silent films? They're PURE CINEMA, stories told VISUALLY. Without spoken language barriers, they were accessible in every country, to every culture in the world. Thus, their stars' fame was much, much greater than that of any stars of the sound era. Also, these films allow us, today, to travel back in time and observe people, places, behavior, fashions, technology, sociology, etc.. from a century ago. Last but not least, they are wonderfully entertaining. So give them a try--you've got nothing to lose but a little bit of time!
