| Introduction | I am in my early thirties and have been unemployed since my late twenties. I worked for a few years at an investment bank after finishing a degree in philosophy at a top State University and a brief but unsuccessful stint in grad school for philosophy. I consider myself lucky to be debt free and without children given my otherwise horrible financial situation. My boyfriend has been kind enough to pay my rent for the past few months, which is amazing of him, but I am always faced with the question: what next? I am trying to get into a grad program in clinical psychology with the hopes of making a career for myself instead of continuing to try to return to the "Bartleby Hell" that was my life while working in investment banking. This blog is about my frustrations with work and feeling like the refuse of the American middle class. |
