Introduction In my early 20's there was a dramatic switch in my thinking about food, not just on my plate but the plates of others around the world. I don't think I ever heard my mother tell me to eat everything on my plate because there were starving children in Africa. But, I became acutely aware that waste existed, as did starvation. Kitchen thrift has become a way of life for me, however that does not mean meals need to be monotonous. Anyone with a computer can easily identify web sites and blogs in abundance on cooking, thrift in the home and disaster survival preparation. The young are hopefully also seeking information from the older generation. Through the years family and friends have graciously tolerated my scrounging ways. They have learned to just roll with the punches when I yell, "Don't throw away those cookie crumbs. You can put them on top of the pudding." And....there is not a person that knows me that doesn't know about my dedication to the soup pot. I am just plain crazy about soup. And so, I have started this blog to share and receive information and hints on my favorite subject, soup.
