| Introduction | Caledonia is the street in Rossville, Georgia, where I first had a sense of home. It is also the Roman name of a part of northern Britain. The former inhabitants, Caledonians, were of unknown origin, though they may have been Celtic. I like that because I too am of unknown origin. We all are. Since the 18th century, Caledonia has been the poetic reference for Scotland.
