Introduction | Out in the world once again, sharing the Post-Cards from the new places I discover. I love tales about people and things; they may attract my curiosity because they are different from my own cultural background. All the following 'Post-Cards' have been published in community papers in the U.S. and in English medium magazines for expatriates wherever I've lived. Enjoy! As I continue to travel around this world, I become more aware of the differences and similarities between global cultures. The thing I know for sure, is the fact that a country never colonized by a Western power (Thailand) proves to have more differences than any other country I've ever lived in. For instance, people in Thailand do not understand a wave of the hand to signify hello or goodbye; they only understand the Wai. Common cultural gestures are generally not understood so when trying to convey a meaning, or ask a question, hand gestures - most times - are misunderstood which makes it tricky if one's local tongue is non- existent. |
Favorite Movies | My favorites are real life, love and work stories that have taken place at different times and parts of the world throughout history. "Out of Africa"; "The English Patient"; "The Piano"; "The Pianist"; "Cotton Mary"; "The Ice Storm" "A Passage to India" come to mind, to name just a few. |
Favorite Music | No one as genial as Mozart |
