Introduction Since its launch in 2005, the Organic School Project has been committed to combating youth health-related epidemics such as obesity, early on-set type II diabetes, asthma and behavioral problems. OSP has focused on providing youth with a foundation for sustainable lifestyles, enabling them to make positive choices for themselves and the planet. The inception of OSP began with outlining programming components around the garden, the classroom and the school lunchroom. OSP’s multifaceted model, GROW. TEACH. FEED., aims to improve eating behaviors and school performance of children. It connects them to their food source through interaction with organic gardens, encourages healthy lifestyles through nutrition, mindfulness and environmental stewardship education, and feed kids More Positive Foods through the school food system. Since then, the Organic School Project has partnered with schools such as Alcott Elementary School, Lowell Community School and Reavis Math & Science Specialty School, and used the wellness model to transform school-aged children into healthy, more mindful eaters by providing them with the knowledge and tools to accomplish these goals.
