Introduction | I am a speech-language pathologist and stay-at-home mom to the sweetest child I know. When he was delivered by emergency c-section a month before his due date, I was scared but grateful that I had experience in speech and language development. He was born weighing 3 pounds, 1 ounces due to intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and I had no idea what to except of his long-term capabilities but I knew early intervention was key. The work of Marion Blank, Ph.D in The Language of Learning: The Preschool Years by Marion Blank, Ph.D. completely simplified my perception of language and allowed me to stay focused in my attempts to help my son develop the language skills necessary to communicate concepts from concrete to abstract. With this personal and professional revelation, I have felt a strong desire to become more proficient in the use of the methods outlined by Dr. Blank and sharing this experience with other parents who are just as interested in early language learning strategies. I hope you find the information and ideas provided on this blog helpful in your efforts to facilitate your little ones early language learning skills. |
