Introduction I work in public health and I am responsible for the development and expansion of community development for health activity across voluntary and statutory sector agencies. This includes developing and conducting training, writing policy to guide community development practice, developing and managing health projects. I was a lecturer in Medical Parasitology at Makerere University in Uganda prior to moving to the UK and working as a Senior Health Promotion Specialist in the 1990s. My PhD thesis was on "A search for the 'Public' in UK Government's public health initiatives". I am also very much interested in politics, both international and local. I represented Peckham Rye Ward in Southwark, London, as a local authority Councillor from 2002 to 2006.
