| Introduction | I've wanted to teach since as long as I can remember...way back to those days that I lined my stuffed animals up in a row and taught them their ABC's. So, when I "grew up," I went to the University of Florida (shout out to those Gators) and received a BA and MA in Elementary Education. My experiences in schools opened my eyes to the achievement gap and gave me a passion to see justice meet education. This led me to Teach For America, where I figured I could get more specific training and support while working in high need areas. In 2011, I began my adventures as a teacher in Nashville where I currently teach 2nd grade. I teach in diverse a Title 1 school, where the majority of our students are English Language Learners. It's a diamond in the rough. Our students yearn to learn and love school, but they still face many challenges. So come join in the adventure and learn from my struggles, my successes, and my story of learning to teach and teaching to learn. Welcome to the Sunshine Class! |
