Introduction | I've pretty much been an artist all my life; a painter. I'm self taught and still continuing my education; in life and in art. To me they're the same. Born 1947 in Lexington, Kentucky and after the Army moved to Austin, Texas where I raised a family. My two sons and their families are still there. I moved to Florida for opportunities in Art in 1996 but did not mean to be here this long. I made a pretty good name for myself but the life of a fine art painter is one of struggling. Now I'm turning 64 and I've always said, "I can struggle anywhere" so I choose to do it in Southwest Texas. I've always said my roots are in Kentucky but my heart is in Texas. I took a road trip back in the early eighties exploring West Texas and found Marfa and Alpine. I thought to myself.."Now this is where I'd like to end up someday." Well, I reckon it's that time. Over the past two years I've made a few trips to West Texas and this past September I stayed at the lodge on Terlingua Ranch and knew that was what I have been looking for. I am now earning/saving money to purchase property. Soon I will be joining the community of off-gridders in Southwest Texas. |
