| Introduction | History of UPGS by Janice Piento Lipinski It took two years of planning, and the first United Polish Genealogical Societies (UPGS) Conference was held in June 1988 in Salt Lake City. Ed Peckwas. President of the “Polish Genealogical Society” (based in Chicago) presented his idea to the three other PGS in existence. The groups from Michigan,Connecticut and Texas joined in and the conference was a success for the 75 or so attendees. Daniel Schlyter was a European reference consultant in the library back then and was very helpful at this first conference. He continues to be a faithful supporter and a regular presenter. |
