InterestsAngela Rocco DeCarlo, is a veteran journalist, PR professional, educator, opera docent for 20 years with the late Opera Pacific. Her bylines appeared in top publications such as Chicago Tribune where she covered culture, travel and entertainment. Her column, The Business Traveler, ran weekly in the business section of the Las Vegas Review Journal & other publications. Her work is excerpted in The Writer's Handbook, a journalism text, as an example of "feature writing as literature." She covered all things Disney for ten years at Disney Magazine. Her writing has appeared in hundreds of publications including Travel Holiday, Discovery, Orange Coast Magazine, OC Register , LA Times and more. Her story, "Puppy Love," appears in a Chicken Soup book, "Out of the Blue." Communications work for McDonald's and other Chicago-area entities included charitable & corporate promotions and employee programs. She has taught journalism/writing to students from age eight to ninety-two. Angela is an alumna of Benedictine University, Lisle, Il, where she founded the Christine Frances Rocco Memorial Endowed Scholarship, in honor of her late sister, for mature Italian American women returning or beginning college. She also established a scholarship for freshman journalism students at the University of Illinois in honor of a friend's teen son, Kevin Early, who died in a tragic accident. Degrees held are English, education (certified to teach K-12), with minor in psychology. She and her husband, Dan, reside in Orange, CA, and have four school-age grandchildren and three grown sons; TV personality/author Mark DeCarlo, Dr. Michael DeCarlo and Daniel DeCarlo, Esq. ###
