| Introduction | WHERE ARE THE OLDER WOMEN SURFERS? I surf New York City and Long Island, and while there are lots of bald and gray haired men in the water there (and everywhere), you rarely see women over 40. Why is that? I started trying to surf at age 43. That was July 3, 2003. And while I am not a grandmother (that I know of yet)I do have a 22 year old son. I surf, swim, bike, ski, and have no intention of sitting in a rocking chair anytime in the next 30 years. I hope to find some similarly inclined surf sisters. |
