The Skelly Family

About me

Location rural, central Georgia
Introduction We are Vern ('62), Stephanie ('62), Katie ('92), Hannah ('93), Owen ('96), Becca ('00), Carrie ('03) and James ('04). After seven years in northern Minnesota, two of those years waiting to sell our house, we have returned to Georgia. February 28th, just two weeks after our house sold, James was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Right now, our blog is often about our new adventure with James, who is an extra special addition to our family with 47 chromosomes (he also has Down syndrome). We are looking to have some community in our lives, living and working and worshipping with some of the same folks. We are hoping to continue raising chickens and turkeys on pasture and to add to our menagerie of animals (a milk cow and some pigs for starters). We'd love to raise tastie and healthy food for folks and work together as a family. In the meantime, Vern will likely work as a public school math teacher. Stephanie is home with the children trying to work herself out of a variety of jobs, and hoping to blog about our adventures in homesteading more soon.

Because I think no one else can hear. Which reminds me, when the children were smaller and we would visit Grandma in her apartment, they would sometimes use the extra bathroom in the hall. The other residents always knew we were there, because the children would sing while they were in the bathroom. To be sure, no one ever walked in on them!
