About me

Introduction I inherited a love of music from my father, who had an eclectic and extensive record collection. When I was a child, he listened to all sorts of music, but he was especially drawn to improvisation-oriented groups like the Allman Brothers Band, Santana, and Steely Dan. Beginning in high school and extending into college (during the 1980s), I began exploring jazz from the past, focusing at first on Miles Davis and John Coltrane. While attending college, I also began listening to Western Classical music. Ever since then, I've been a passionate music fan. Along with blogs dedicated to jazz in the 1970s and 1980s, I've also created websites in tribute to classical composer Charles Ives -- http://www.musicweb-international.com/ives -- and jazz vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson -- http://www.musicweb-international.com/jazz/hutcherson.
