Black Bird Legal Collective
My blogs
| Introduction | The Black Bird Legal Collective is a volunteer run law collective based in Portland ME. By implementing the following programs throughout the Portland area we are working to defend ourselves and each other from the unjust structure of the U.S legal system. Legal Defense Workshops - The BBC is planning a series of workshops that reflect the issues facing our community. They will be structured to give participants the resources and ability to defend themseleves as well as others in their community. Case Participation - The BBC works closely with the not-for-profit legal community and participates in select legal actions. We are currently working to build a "peoples legal team" to defend exiled Maine State Prison inmate Deane Brown. Prisoner Support - The structural inequality in the "criminal justice system" has led to nearly two and a half million u.s citizens locked in jails/prisons throughout the country. The collective works to raise awareness and organize resistance to the prison-industrial-complex and directly provide the incacerated members of our communities with the support that they need. |
