| Introduction | Dr. Hareshwar Roy beautifully connects global research with local literature. Born in 1964 in Jamuaon (Bhojpur, Bihar), he studied at Patna University and earned his Ph.D. from APS University, Rewa. Currently, he serves as Professor of English at Government P.G. College Satna, Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Roy bridges two worlds: in class, he explains international migration and literary history, while in his heart, he keeps the rich spirit of the Bhojpuri language alive. He has published over 45 research papers focused on Indian Diaspora Writing. As an author in English, he has written Diasporic Articulation in the Novels of M.G. Vassanji, A Study of M.G. Vassanji's Novels, Varieties of Indianity in the Works of M.G. Vassanji and Rohinton Mistry, Diaspora and Indian Diaspora: A Brief Study, Short Notes of English Literature - I and Short Notes of English Literature - II. Rooted in his soil, he is a celebrated Bhojpuri poet featured on 'Kavita Kosh' and in popular collections like Hamar Pahchan Ha Bhojpuri, Hamra Pyar Ho Gail, and Bhojpuri Kavitayein. Ultimately, his life and writings serve as an inspiring example of how academic scholarship and local roots thrive together perfectly. |

| Favorite movies | Teesri Kasam: A literary soul at heart, my favorite film is the 1966 classic Teesri Kasam. It is a timeless masterpiece of Indian cinema. It is based on Phanishwar Nath Renu’s iconic short story. It beautifully captures the poignant, unexpressed emotions between a simple bullock-cart driver and a female dancer. This fantastic film weaves rural nostalgia with deep emotional realism. It has a special place in my personal world of literature and cinema. |
| Favorite music | My heart belongs to the sweet and soothing music of the Bhojpuri region, especially Holi, Chaiti, Sohar, Jhoomar, Kajari, Poorvi and Jhoola Geet. These traditional songs are deeply rooted in simple village life. I love the energetic Phagua songs during Holi. I also love the gentle, nostalgic Chaiti melodies. With traditional dholak, jhal, and deep lok geet traditions, these songs carry generations of story-telling and warmth. For me, this matti kee khushboo is not just regional music but it is a living, breathing link to my roots and the timeless pulse of rural life. |
| Favorite books | My favorite book is Goswami Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas. It is not just an epic; it is a timeless guide to life, duty, and devotion. Written in rich Awadhi, this masterpiece makes divine wisdom accessible through sweet, poetic chaupais. I love how it paints deeply human relationships, moral clarity, and unwavering faith. The characters inspire righteousness (dharma) and compassion at every turn. Its verses carry a calm, spiritual warmth that touches the heart. For me, Ramcharitmanas is more than classic literature. It is a living source of peace, cultural heritage, and lifelong inspiration. |
