Introduction In college, I read the phrase: "Shine a light on what is to be praised and on what is to be criticized." It spoke to me as both simple and profound, and it became the motto for my career. I'm both an inquisitive and extroverted guy, so being a journalist is a good fit. When I'm out on the streets doing interviews, I feel like it's the work I'm meant for. I'm most drawn to covering the arts, especially movies and music, and local news on issues such as immigration, health, poverty, religion, labor and the economy.
Interests Writing, film, reading, screenplays, dancing, Tai Chi, yoga, meditation, boxing, blues music, motown music, folk music, 80s music, most any kind o' music you can dance to...artists, helping the homeless, seeing the world, saving the world, clinging to my comic-book-loving days of youth through watching NBC's "Heroes, " bashing NBC's "Heroes, " hoping NBC's "Heroes" will get better even though all evidence is to the contrary...
Favorite Movies Glory, At Play In the Fields of the Lord, Memento, Sneakers, and the list goes on...
Favorite Music Blues: everybody who sings it. Good old crooners. Ray. Folk: Leonard Cohen, Ben Harper, Old Crow Medicine Show...
Favorite Books Emotional Alchemy, Watchmen, My Losing Season, The Prophet (Kahlil Gibran), Steinbeck-just about anything he's written.
