| Introduction | RPI launched the SHE program, Sanitation, Health and Education, near Usilampatti, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the Claretian Missionary Fathers. This program seeks to combat female infanticide and foeticide, and improve the treatment of females; to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children; and to provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged village children, especially female and handicapped children. RPI also assisted the Claretian Mercy Home for abandoned babies, revamping the nursery operations, bringing many improvements, and setting up a preschool for older babies and toddlers who have not been adopted. |
