| Introduction | I am Adam Sultan, a Civil Engineer and a Social Scientist who wants to make a difference for the rural population of Somaliland after having lived many years in Sweden. I was born into a nomadic family in the Somali region of Ethiopia and had the luck to go to school. The first four years of my education were very difficult since I had to cope with the hardships of the nomadic life and at the same time take care of my education. During my elementary education, I had to run (if I walked I could not be in time for the first classes) every morning to my elementary school that was located 18 km away from my home! After 4th grade, I attended boarding schools before enrolling at the Somali National University in Mogadishu. My well aimed running to the elementary school paid off: I got a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Somali National University, Mogadishu. From Lund University, Sweden, I received Bachelors degree in Human Ecology/Social and Economic Geography and a Masters degree in Social and Economic Geography. |
