| Introduction | I'm a blue-eyed, university-educated, healthy, blonde Canadian who had a fabulous childhood that mostly involved riding horses. So you won't find me complaining that I didn't have opportunities in my life. I've done my best to lead an exciting life that I hope has made and will continue to make a difference, if only in a small way. After years working in the environment sector, as a climate change consultant, writer and editor of Canada's national environmental magazine (Alternatives Journal), I recently switched careers. I now spend my summers running a small adventure company (French River Adventures) at The Lodge at Pine Cove. And during Canada's long, cold winter? You can find me in some warm part of the world -- for the last three years it has been Patagonia -- discovering what I can about nature, travel and sport. |
| Interests | I started to write a list of my interests, but it was a long and, frankly, boring list. Pretty much everything is interesting if you are a curious person. I'm not as curious as Andy Barrie (ex-MetroMorning host at the CBC), but I'm pretty curious. In particular, I love being involved in sport, travel and nature. Fortunately, I'm often able to combine these passions into a grand adventure. I also love putting pen to paper. With four books to my name and hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles under my belt, I guess it's okay to call myself a writer. |
| Favorite movies | Shirley Valentine - It's the only movie I own and I try to watch it once a year so that I never forget Nicola Ross. |
| Favorite music | Way too much to possibly list. |
| Favorite books | Often the book I'm currently reading is my favourite because there are so many wonderful books that it's a shame to read ones you don't enjoy. Last night, I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and it is one of my favourite books ever. Wish I hadn't finished it. |
