Introduction Well, my friend, if you are reading this part of the blog, there really is no hope for you. You're probably an insomniac. You're likely confined to your home because of a long and serious illness and now find yourself out of reading material. Or you're my mom who, she said, will read this. So, this is where you learn something about me. But not too much, I promise. My name is Russ Hemphill and I'm metro editor at The Wenatchee World. That means I work with reporters who cover hard news: city government, schools, cops and courts, the PUDs, agriculture and business, environment and health care, that sort of thing. I'm also a sucker for animal stories, much to the nearly universal dismay of those same reporters. My job is to give you something good to read and to raise a little heck now and then. I also do what I can to shed some light on government as it does your business. I've been a journalist for about 30 years, most of them as a reporter and editor in Phoenix at The Phoenix Gazette and The Arizona Republic. I've been metro editor at The Wenatchee World since August 1999.
