| Introduction | This blog is about my life with a daughter who has been diagnosed with ADD at 9 years old and then diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when she was 11. My husband has clone-like symptoms which were either caused or enhanced by a brain injury he had while in the military. I love them both and want what is best for them, but as you read my blog, please keep an open mind. Remember, that those that fall anywhere on the spectrum react differently to things than what is considered normal. You might think their reactions are”normal” but let me remind you that their reactions are beyond the normal range and somewhere on the spectrum. This spectrum means that nothing is consistent and what works right now won't work in 5 minutes. I know they are great, smart, caring, loving people but due to the constant inconsistencies, symptoms pop up everywhere, it is not biased. Unless you have a child or family member on the spectrum, please realize that your criticism and advice isn't going to come across as from someone who knows from experience. |
