| Introduction | I have lived in a variety of places from Minnesota to Iowa to Alaska. When my husband and I volunteered in Malawi, Africa for a year, we were robbed shortly after arriving. What was needed was a dog – for security. We adopted “Alaska Malawi,” a puppy who became much more than just a security system for us. He became part of the family and made the long trip to Alaska to be with us. Back home in Alaska, I began thinking about how many changes and new experiences our dog had gone through in his short life. I was encouraged to write his story from his own viewpoint and eventually wrote three (self published) children’s books about him. They are books about Africa, Alaska and Texas, where we live now.
