Introduction A member of the Peace Corps in India during the mid-1960s, Richard Smith has lived in San Francisco, Washington, D.C. New York, Austin, Houston, and Panajchel (Guatemala). He was a member of the Urban Teacher Corps in Washington D.C. and taught junior high school in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City and also in Washington D.C. He earned a master of arts in teaching degree from Antioch University and a Ph.D. in educational communications from The University of Texas at Austin. At present, he is a clinical associate professor of instructional technology at the University of Houston - Clear Lake.
