About me

Location Stockton, California, United States
Introduction I was born and raised in the NYC metro area, went to college in New England, and moved to California in 1974. I have BA/BS degrees in History/Geography and a MA degree in anthropology. I have been blogging and commenting on internet news and news aggregation web sites for 5 yrs. My interest in politics dates to a 1966 mayoral election. I was active in both 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns. Although I always vote, McGovern's 1972 loss and Nixon's mere existence turned me off to active politicking. By nature an optimist, I confess a sense of creeping cynicism caused by 28 years of conservative governance and an extremely bleak-looking future. I list myself as a Democrat on my voter registration but I am suspicious of both major American political parties and believe that neither represents the will of the American people. Both parties represent the interests of business, which provides most of the funding for both parties, and the political class. Although both parties place the interests of business over those of individual citizens, it is easier to vote for Democrats over Republicans because Democrats make an effort to express concerns for social and economic justice.
