Occupation professor and trainer with George Fox University and Young Life

Introduction I have spent over 25 years in youth ministry with Young Life and the last 7+ years teaching at George Fox University. I wrote a book, Embraced: Prodigals at the Cross, growing out of these experiences. I've been a very mediocre competitive distance runner, a very successful high school coach and now a broken down very slow jogger. I married way out of my league and have been astounded by God's hesed and glimpses of God's shalom.
Interests theology, the Gospel of Luke, the ideas of shalom, jubilee, kenosis, hesed, track/xc, Iowa football, my family, story
Favorite Music U2, Bruce Springsteen, and lots of other stuff, but they are my standards.
Favorite Books SO many, Excusion and Embrace by Miroslav Volf, The Mediation of Christ by T.F. Torrance, The Sparrow and the Children of God, the novels of Shasuko Endo and Walker Percy, the prose of Frederick Buechner, on and on
