| Introduction | My name is Shawn, AKA: Vern. God has blessed me with a wonderful life. I have an amazing wife, three boys and great parents. But, it wasn’t always that way, even with great parents, I rebelled. Growing up I hung out with the wrong crowd, & heck being the wrong crowd myself, I got involved with Alcohol & some minor drugs. But even during that time I was attending church and playing the part. But saved I was not. It took my older brother’s death to get my attention. I realized then, I could also die. I tried cleaning up my life, but that didn’t work. I became very worried, depressed & suicidal at the age of 19 and ready to give up, I saw no future. But I called out to God, I asked Him to show me what to do, that I didn’t want to live like this anymore. He let me remember all of the times that I had heard the gospel, and I understood that I had never truly accepted Christ even though I had grown up in church. So that night I did. From that point on God was controlling my life, not me. I realized that no matter how I tried to clean up my life…it was only by the grace & mercy of God that I could be saved. |
