Interests	"Cannes: Cote d'Azur. Some gleaming town of rose and white, there where the Alps like elephants come down to kneel beside the calm and azure sea. On the sky and the water lies a hard glaring gaze of gold. The Mediterranean, level and smooth, laps the shore with a slow rise and fall of sound like the breath of a sleeper-a gentle insistent rhythm-brushing the beach with sound. The cactus clumps like spiky octopi. The palms that stud the Croisette at Cannes with tignasse tufts and thick pineapple stems. At night the pale dark peppered with stars like the finest of silver tinsel. The last soft red streamers of the sunset faded behind the gray silhouette of the Esterel, and from the jetty I saw green trees and the red roofs of the houses that mount the little hill to the square Saracen tower grown somber and black above the silver blue-gray water of the harbor, where the little boats were neatly moored in a fringe about the shore: above the boats was the low avenue of lindens and along between their trunks were the lights of the shops." -Edward Wilson
