| Introduction | Melanie Geddes is the president of Geddes & Associates, Inc., a personal and professional development company that works to positively impact the lives of the disadvantaged. Melanie is a respected human services expert, speaker and trainer with a passion for inspiring hope, change, and growth. She conducts self-improvement, motivational and employment-related presentations for disenfranchised adults and youth who face barriers ranging from unemployment, low self-esteem, poor education, incarceration, and generational welfare dependency. She has facilitated workshops and seminars in correctional facilities, community-based organizations, churches, schools, substance abuse recovery programs, conferences, and other venues where improving the lives of men, women and youth were the main agenda. Melanie received an undergraduate degree in Deviant Behavior and Social Control and a Masters degree in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. She is the author of Learning to Dream with Your Eyes Open: A Survival Guide for Inner City Youth, and lives in South Florida with her husband and two sons. |
