| Introduction | I live in an old house, up on one of Astoria's steep hills, overlooking the Columbia River. After being brought up on the shoreline of Connecticut, and then spending 22 desolate years being sun-beaten in Los Angeles, I found Astoria, which is very much like the New England lobstering/oystering village I was brought up in. Almost as soon as I got to Astoria, I took out my cameras, which had been in storage for 10 years. There was nothing I wanted to shoot in L.A., and most of the clients I had were a pain in the butt, so I just stopped shooting. One things still holds true, though, I won't do photos of people.
