| Introduction | Having spent 30 years in public school classrooms as a teacher, I thrived on producing reading materials which would make learning more interesting. I went so far as to write stories about my trusty pocket protector in a variety of verb tense offerings. My latest offering is the book on US History. By and large, this has become a forgotten legacy. Rediscovery our roots is uncovering who we are; it's no different than climbing into the attic, finding letters written by generations of relatives you know nothing about, and discovering that Aunt Gertrude was arrested for civil disobedience. Somehow, we Americans, feel disconnected, and it's time to change that - especially for our youth. |
