Introduction | The Hyperion Singers began as the brainchild of Josef Nelson and is still in its preliminary phase. The goal is to eventually have a collection of talented singers who have a taste and passion for music from the baroque and classical periods. Our mission will be to offer innovative programs of music both in concert form and fully staged productions ranging from sacred music, secular song and cantatas, recitals of arias and full operas. Between offering familiar and iconic works such as Handel's Messiah to more obscure pieces such as Monteverdi's Tancredi cantata, we are confident that we can draw a wide audience of music lovers in addition to reaching out and developing audiences among non-aficionados. We have yet to develop a planned schedule of events, and will soon have a growing roster. Our mission will be targeted regionally and expand from the cities of Minneapolis to the greater Midwest. Join us in our efforts by becoming our fans on Facebook, and once our ensemble gets off the ground, attending our concerts and spreading the word. In the words of the Clock from Beauty and the Beast "If it ain't baroque, don't fix it." |
