Introduction	In college, I was an ugly duckling of design. I searched for my people in the wood shop, in book arts and in costuming. After a detour that led me to China where I taught English and then back to the US to study Chinese, I finally found my people in a sewing store in my hometown of Birmingham, AL. Since then, I've taken my new love of needle, thread and fabric to Poland, Italy and back to Birmingham.
