Introduction Art has always had a place in my life- sometimes more, sometimes less. It has energized and frustrated me, inspired and confounded me. I wrestle with finding its purpose- why did God make artists? Why is that important? I search for those answers in the words of others and in my own experience bank. The answers are usually helpful- for a time. Then the question comes again, and I search again. Last week, I asked again "Why paint?!!" And for the first time, inside of myself, there was a very quiet answer..."why NOT paint?" I was amazed with its simplicity, and satisfied. I am hoping that this will be a place of encouragement to others wrestling with the same questions. I will post some of the things that have helped me along the way, as well as some of my work. To date, the most important truth that I have discovered, is that if I don't work within the context of knowing the love of God for me-abundant, lavish, attentive and sacrificial love...then my work is nothing but cement on my feet, and a burden on my back. When I really believe that there is nowhere that I can go that will remove me from His grace and kindness, His sufficiency and provision, then I can freely work.
